About this experience
Punta de Mita sits at the northern tip of Banderas Bay, where Pacific swell wraps around the peninsula and breaks across more than 13 surf spots within about 20 minutes of one another.
Warm water, consistent waves and a break for every level make it a complete surf destination. We take guests to the right break, on the right day, for their level.
Beginner breaks
- El Anclote — sandy bottom, forgiving slope and long slow rides
- La Lancha — wide white-sand beach with long peeling waves
- Monuments — slow rights and lefts suited to beginners on appropriate days
Intermediate breaks
- La Bahía / The Cove — long rights and punchy lefts, best reached by water taxi
- Burros — more power and shape
- Palmitas — powerful sandbank with rippable shoulders
- El Faro — seasonal reef point with faster, hollow rights
Advanced breaks
- Burros on bigger summer swell
- La Bahía at full size

- May–October: southern swells, typically 3–5 ft
- November–April: northwest swells, 2–10 ft with offshore winds
