Which trip suits you
If you have never held a speargun, start with Spearfishing Level 1. It is taught from the shallow reef with an instructor beside you, and the day is built around breathing, safety and reading the reef rather than the shot itself.
If you already dive comfortably on a single breath and have hunted before, Reef Spearfishing takes you along the Punta de Mita coastline to work structure — points, rock and reef edges — where knowing where a fish will sit matters more than depth.
Blue Water Spearfishing is the full offshore day. Open water, no bottom to orient against, and long waits for the right fish to appear. It rewards patience and punishes rushing, which is why we ask about your experience before confirming it.
How the season shapes the day
Reef species are available across the year, while pelagic fish move through in windows tied to water temperature and current. Our fish calendar shows how the year tends to run, and it is guidance rather than a schedule — conditions vary.
In practice, the season decides where we go rather than whether we go. If the offshore water is not right, a reef day is often the better trip on that particular morning, and we will say so.
What is included
Full spearfishing equipment, a certified guide or instructor, onboard safety equipment, fresh ceviche made with the day's catch, and drinks. Fishing trips also include cleaning and packing your catch. Exact inclusions are listed on each experience page.

Do I need experience to go spearfishing in Punta Mita?
Not for Spearfishing Level 1 — it is built for beginners and teaches breath-hold basics, safety, speargun handling and reef species from the ground up, with a minimum of 3 participants per trip. Reef Spearfishing suits divers who already have breath-hold experience, and Blue Water Spearfishing is a full open-ocean day for experienced spearos.
Is spearfishing here done on scuba?
No. Every trip is breath-hold spearfishing — mask, fins and a single breath. There are no tanks, which is part of why the sport rewards calm technique over fitness.
What is provided and what should I bring?
Full spearfishing equipment, a guide or instructor, onboard safety equipment, fresh ceviche from the day's catch and drinks are included. Bring sun protection, a hat, a towel and any personal mask you prefer to dive in.
Where do spearfishing trips depart from?
All trips meet at Av. El Anclote, 63734 Desarrollo Punta Mita, Nay. You meet the team there and the boat departs from that marina. Exact meeting instructions are confirmed when your date is locked in.
Will we come back with fish?
Often, but never as a promise. Visibility, current, water temperature and fish behaviour all change day to day, so no catch or species is ever guaranteed.
